Working in our fixed marine facility, a Tankerman’s primary function is to oversee and execute cargo transfer operations in a safe and efficient manner.
Having a strong work ethic and eager to learn, the right candidate will train on barge transfers, marine operations, and equipment. Candidate will be required to obtain a company sponsored USCG tankerman license and certifications within six months of hire. Additionally, a TWIC card must be obtained within one month of hire.
Essential duties & responsibilities:
• Train on barge liquid transfers including moving cargo from one compartment to another within the barges and loading outbound cargo
• Learn and demonstrate knowledge of boiler operation, including start up and shut down situations; valves, and pipeline inspection, usage, and maintenance; hose handling, including hook-up, disconnection, and proper slinging
• Develop a complete knowledge of all equipment and barges; troubleshooting barge problems; operate and maintain pumps, pump engines, winches and valves and ensuring general maintenance standards so that all equipment is kept neat, clean, and orderly
• Understand and comply with the company Safety & Security Management Programs including the use of emergency and personal protective equipment and participate in spill drills
Minimum Requirements:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Valid Driver’s License
• Able to communicate in English and work professionally with supervisors and crew members
• USCG tankerman license and credentials within six months of hire
• TWIC card within one month of hire
Working Conditions:
• Required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl
• Required to lift/push/carry items more than 50 pounds
• Continual exposure to outside weather conditions including extreme heat or cold
• Work near moving mechanical parts
